Description: Canne de combat (French for "fighting stick") is a French martial art, the roots of which go back to the 18th century. Originally developed as a self-defence method, canne de combat is now a fast and agile competitive sport which combines elegance and acrobatics with dynamism and efficiency. It is the ideal recreational sport as canne de combat is quick to learn, very varied and carries a low risk of injury. The aim of the course is to teach the six canne de combat strokes as well as other basic techniques. Participants are first familiarised in a playful manner with the equipment – the stick – and then progress to duelling with various partner exercises. No special equipment is necessary – apart from a positive attitude and comfortable sports clothing.
